Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord..... The season of Advent, the time of preparation for the coming of Christ at Christmas, begins on a different date each year. The First Sunday in Advent, 2009, is Sunday, November 29. · November 29 - First Sunday of Advent · December 6 - Second Sunday of Advent · December 13 - Third Sunday of Advent · December 20 - Fourth Sunday of Advent Advent is a period of spiritual preparation in which Christians make themselves ready for the coming, or birth of the Lord, Jesus Christ. During this time, Christians observe a season of prayer, fasting and repentance, followed by anticipation, hope and joy. Christians celebrate advent not only by thanking God for Christ's first coming to Earth as a baby, but also for his presence among us today through the Holy Spirit, and in preparation and anticipation of his final coming at the end of time. Come thou long expected Jesus.... Observe Advent as a family by marking each day with a devotional time and prayer.
